Housing Rehabilitation of a National Register Historic District

Site: Central City, Colorado

Under this housing rehabilitation program, five houses in Central City were rehabilitated with joint financing from HUD and the Colorado Division of Housing. The Collaborative developed the overall housing rehabilitation program including plans, specifications, construction administration and inspection. All five houses completed were located in a National Register Historic District, and all plans, specifications and contract documents had to conform to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. The overall program, along with building plans and specifications, had to be approved by the State Historic Preservation Officer and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.
